Rodney Lake, Of Counsel
Rodney Lake is an experienced tax attorney who advises companies, founders, investors, and business owners on domestic and international tax law matters. His practice focuses on identifying, assessing, and managing tax risks in business transactions, and on developing tax-efficient structures for mergers, acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and other strategic transactions.
Rodney has extensive experience with corporate and partnership tax matters, including the tax aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, business formations, reorganizations, and complex ownership structures. He also counsels clients on individual, estate, and trust tax issues that arise in connection with business succession, closely held companies, and transactional planning.
Rodney formerly co-chaired the tax practice group at a New England-based law firm, where his work focused primarily on transactional tax matters. His practice also included representing clients in tax controversies before federal and state taxing authorities and the United States Tax Court.
Rodney also previously advised private equity and corporate clients as part of Ernst & Young’s International Tax and Transaction Services practice. In that role, he led teams providing tax structuring, tax due diligence, and transactional risk analysis, including the evaluation and quantification of historical tax exposures in the international, U.S. federal, and state and local tax contexts. He also assisted clients in connection with underwriting processes, including matters involving representations and warranties insurance.
Rodney received his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law, his J.D. from Boston College Law School, and his B.A. from Tufts University.
